I am entering my ninth year as a social studies teacher and the varsity boys basketball coach!  This year, I will be teaching exclusively US History to freshman.  It is a privilege to teach and coach in such a fine school district as Sturgis!  The staff here is very caring, supportive and hard working.  We also utilize cutting edge technology and prepare students for college in a variety of ways!  In addition, there is great community support and pride!
I am originally from New Jersey (the Garden State) and attended an all boys Catholic High school called Christian Brothers Academy.  Upon graduation, I was fortunate enough to receive a full basketball scholarship to the University of Notre Dame in 1992.  After an injury plagued career, (ending any professional aspirations), I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996 with a major in Sociology. I also received my middle and high school teaching degree from nearby Saint Mary's College, with concentrations in World History and U.S. History.
Fresh out of college, my first student teaching job was at John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana.  It was there that I was hired onto the staff the next year as a Special Education teacher, as well as the boys JV basketball coach and varsity assistant.  After two successful years at Adams, I was able to land my first head coaching job at Marian High School (a Catholic school in Mishawaka, Indiana)!
After three years at Marian, I ventured across town to Catholic School rival Saint Joseph's High School for six years.  It was there that I served as head boys basketball coach (we managed to beat Marian the last four years in a row!) and taught US History and Sociology.  After nearly ten years in Catholic schools, I wanted to teach and coach at a large public school.  I found the perfect fit -Sturgis High School, in Sturgis MI!
From a family perspective I have been married to my wonderful supportive wife named Sara for 16 years, and we are the proud parents of three beautiful children: Thomas age 14, Elly age 11, and Andrew (aka Pop Pop) age 10.
