Smith, Tim

After graduating from Traverse City High School I attended Northwestern Michigan College and then transferred to Grand Valley State University. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in history, minor in physical education, and a secondary teacher certificate. I then attended Western Michigan University where I earned another minor in group social studies and a Master of Arts in the practice of teaching.

My first teaching position was in Bessemer, Michigan. I taught physical education and history for three years. I moved to Sturgis in 1998. Since my arrival at Sturgis, I have taught both social studies classes and physical education classes.

I have been involved in athletics my entire life. I coached wrestling for 12 years, football for 11 years, volleyball for 3 years, and basketball for 1 season. I have also coached youth baseball, youth soccer, youth football, and youth lacrosse.

My wife, Karrie, is also a teacher and together we have two children. As a family we stay very active. Our favorite activity however is camping. We have stayed in 50 states and have visited many major cities.
